Meditation: Landmarks to Live By

I never wanted to be called a survivor, though I am.

Because that marks time by a negative event such as abuse, cancer, storms, etc.

I learned this from teaching history, as it is often portrayed as an outline of wars. I decided to give positive events equal emphasis. Makes sense, since major inventions have had an equally vital impact on society equal to that of wars.

It is my belief that those negative time markers hold the real person (growing, liquid, human soul) in a victim stance close to a grotto of grief.

Therefore, even though I’ve been in some pretty deep potholes of life, I prefer to use the most recent positive event as my mile marker.

I am a (smile) liver – a giver – not just a survivor. That makes me a thriver!
