Something Told the Wild Geese – New Original Verse 2

This was written by my best friend Ann Tofft a couple of years before she died. We sang it in our choir each fall as we celebrated the magical turn of the seasons. It was such fun to lengthen the spell of that wonderful song each year. [ sung to the wonderful music by Rachel Field as a second verse ]

Something told the wild geese it was time  to go.

Breezes through the orchard, bringing hints of snow.

Nature sends a signal when a change is due.

All the geese will gather, and they know it’s true.

Heavy winds bring trouble, low clouds in the sky

Older birds have memories, they refuse to die.

[ s a g g i n g       o r c h a r d       i n t e r l u d e ]

When you hear them honking look up in the sky.

Young birds are the leaders, watch the flock go by.

Watch the flock go by.

Watch the flock go by.
